PlayStation 5 game case design officially revealed

With each new generation, console manufacturers have updated their video game cases to align with the design philosophy of the consoles themselves. For Sony, the PlayStation serves as a massive departure from all previous console designs. Now, following the reveal of the console hardware, the company has unveiled what the PS5 cases will look like.

Announced via the PlayStation Blog, Sid Shuman, the Senior Director, SIE Content Communications provided “A quick update for our fans — here’s your first look at the box art for PS5 games you’ll be seeing on store shelves this holiday, starring Marvel Super Hero Miles Morales.”

As mentioned by Shuman, the box art shown off is that of the upcoming PS5 exclusive Spider-Man Miles Morales. The art evokes many similarities to the 2018 Marvel’s  Spider-Man box art – a plain gradient background with the main protagonist posing in the middle mid-swing.

What’s more interesting however is the case itself. Despite looking quite similar to the current PS4 cases – with the same blue translucent plastic and dimensions – the top banner is now a bright white, with black accents for the ‘PS5’ logo. The PS4’s banner meanwhile featured a blue gradient with white accents.

This new design mirrors that of the PS5 console and controller – which are primarily white with black as the secondary colour. With how heavily Sony appears to be leaning into the two-toned design of the PS5 family of devices, it’ll be interesting to see whether the console manufacturer has any plans for different coloured versions of the console, or if white with black is all that will ever be available.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
