Horizon Forbidden West aiming to release on PS5 next year

The big final game announcement from Sony's PS5 reveal last week was, of course, Horizon II: Forbidden West. At the time, we got a teaser trailer and a good look at some of the areas we'll be exploring in the next chapter of Aloy's adventure, but a release date or window was not confirmed. That changed this week, with Guerrilla Games confirming a 2021 release.

During a ‘Guerrilla Talks' developer diary, game director, Mathijs de Jonge confirmed that the studio is “aiming to release the game next year, in 2021”.

A few other insights are given during the video, with the developer discussing a lack of loading times, higher graphical detail and a broader map to explore along the way.

Exactly what part of the year Horizon Forbidden West will land in still remains to be seen. The first game was an early 2017 release for PS4, which makes sense given that it was a brand new IP. However, now with an established fan base, Sony could hold onto this for a big Holiday 2021 push.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
