Skate surpasses 15 million players following Early Access launch

15 years on from the last entry in the series, EA’s Skate franchise is officially back and (seemingly) bigger than ever. Following the game’s Early Access launch last month, the team have now confirmed that the free-to-play title has already amassed over 15 million players.

Taking to Twitter to make the announcement, the official Skate page confirmed that “Over 15 million players have jumped into San Vansterdam since we launched Early Access!”

As mentioned, the game only just recently entered Early Access on the 16th of September, and so amassing over 15 million players in 3 weeks or so is impressive to say the least.

Of course, unlike its predecessors, Skate (2025) is a free-to-play title and so we will have to wait and see how many of those 15 million choose to return to the live-service title time-and-time again.

Skate Million

That said, despite some issues with various elements of the game, many fans agree that the latest Skate’s core gameplay is fun and satisfying – perhaps the most important aspect of any title.

Seeing as how the game only just entered Early Access (despite having had various alpha tests), things can and should improve with time.

Still, after a decade and a half away, it appears as though the hunger for a new Skate game had not only been maintained, but managed to grow to new heights.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
