Shenmue 3 returns with new ‘Enhanced Edition’

Despite being a massive Kickstarter success, the return of Shenmue wasn't the grand event many backers had hoped for. Shenmue 3 ultimately ended up disappointing both older fans of the original games, and newcomers. Now, creator Yu Suzuki is hoping for a do-over with Shenmue 3 Enhanced Edition.

This week, Shenmue 3 Enhanced Edition was announced for PC and consoles. The new version of the game will be coming to PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, and it will also be available for Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo consoles.

Fans who own the original version of Shenmue 3 on PS4 or PC will get an ‘upgrade path', so be prepared to open your wallet in order to upgrade to the new version of the game. This does not appear to be a free upgrade for those who supported the original release.

Shenmue 3 Enhanced Edition will include ‘enhanced graphics', including 4K textures and support for newer technologies like FSR and DLSS. The Enhanced Edition also includes more NPCs to make the world feel livelier, new camera options and other gameplay and UI tweaks.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
