Metroid Prime 4 still releasing this year, Nintendo confirms

Last week's Nintendo Direct ended up being quite disappointing. While many of us had hoped for a showing of new first-party games and a release date announcement for Metroid Prime 4, the most recent Direct presentation focused solely on third-party games. As a result, fans have grown concerned that Metroid Prime 4 is going to be delayed, but Nintendo is now putting those fears to rest.

In a statement this week, Nintendo confirmed that Metroid Prime 4 was still on track for a 2025 release. We still don't have an exact release date, but the game should release this holiday season, alongside other major Switch exclusives like Pokémon Legends Z-A, to give Nintendo an end-of-year sales boost.

Metroid Prime 4 was first announced in 2017, just months after the Nintendo Switch first launched. Nintendo quickly went silent, giving very few updates in the years since. That all finally changed this year with the gameplay reveal for Metroid Prime 4, which arrived alongside our first proper look at the new Switch 2 console.

While Metroid Prime 4 will be a major Switch 2 title, it is also releasing for the Switch 1. It is highly recommended that you pick it up on Switch 2 though, as the game will run at 60FPS as standard, with an option for up to 120FPS in docked mode. First-person shooters like Metroid Prime greatly benefit from the extra responsiveness afforded by the higher frame rate.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
