Grounded 2 launches to almost 50k concurrent players on Steam

As was the case with the first game, Microsoft released Grounded 2 into Early Access, giving fans of Obsidian Entertainment’s ‘Honey I Shrunk the Kids’ styled survival crafter a chance to get in on the sequel as it is being built. This strategy seems to be working, as Grounded 2 has already far surpassed the first game’s peak concurrent players on Steam.

With a peak CCU of 49,836 following its Early Access launch on Steam just a couple days ago, Grounded 2 is currently seeing far greater consolidated interest when compared to the first game – which managed just 32,012 concurrents at its peak.

More interestingly however, Grounded 1’s peak player count was actually achieved during one of the game’s many free weekend offerings, with figures outside of these periods maxing out at 27,478 around its 1.0 release.

Of course, it is worth noting that Grounded itself was a relatively modest game, which saw its popularity grow over time both in the lead-up to and following its 1.0 launch.

As a result it is not surprising to see that the sequel has managed to nearly double its peak player count. That said, it will be interesting to see whether Grounded 2 manages to pull in as many players in the long-run – be it through Steam or Game Pass.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
