The Mega Man franchise holds a special place in many people’s hearts, with Rock Man’s various sub-series and genres each seeing their own niche of supporters within the fandom. Earlier this year Konami released the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection. Now, the game has gotten a major patch with a whole host of small-but-significant improvements.
Making the announcement on Twitter, the official Mega Man page said “A quality of life update for #MegaManBattleNetwork Legacy Collection is now available! Changes Include:
- Crucial Bug Fixes
- ‘MegaMan Voice' Option Added
- (Black) Border Added
- Plus More”
The full patch notes cover all of the different games’ unique issues and can be found HERE, however by far the most exciting addition with this update is the option for a Black Border. Due to the aspect ratio of the games, modern displays playing these Mega Man titles would include pillarboxing on either side of the screen.
With the original release only featuring static art on the sides, it could not only lead to issues with OLED displays, but can also be quite distracting. While it was an odd commission from the original release, it is good to see that the patch finally addresses this.
