Elgato brings 4K60 game capture to the masses with cross-platform Game Capture 4K S

Elgato has a new launch heading our way. Today, the new Game Capture 4K S was announced, a new external capture solution built to deliver class-leading gameplay recording and sharing capabilities.

The Game Capture 4K S is the successor to Elgato's best-selling capture device, the HD60 X. The new external device delivers 4K/60FPS capture, zero-latency passthrough, and near-zero software preview delay. Even high-intensity titles play without lag on a dedicated gaming display, while in-app capture previews respond with as little as 30ms of latency on capable setups, which is smooth enough for most single-screen workflows.

The Game Capture 4K S is a cross-device solution as well, enabling game capture from Xbox and PlayStation consoles, as well as Nintendo's latest system, the Switch 2. Elgato has also kept up with its commitment to supporting iOS, with compatibility for USB-C iPads.

If you'd prefer to capture at an even higher frame rate, then the Elgato Game Capture 4K S has you covered there too. You can swap from 4K/60 to 1080p at up to 240FPS, or capture 1440p gameplay at up to 120FPS.

Launching alongside 4K S is Elgato Studio, the company’s brand-new capture application slated to replace 4KCU in coming months. Designed to simplify the recording process, the app detects 4K S instantly and offers ultra-low preview latency, minimal system load during recording, and essential features like a snapshot tool to capture memorable moments for social media or video thumbnails. Creators can adjust 4K S settings and experiment with beta features directly in the software, whether they’re just starting out or producing content at scale.

The Elgato Game Capture 4K S will be available soon, priced at $159.99.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
