PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds now has first-person servers for squad games

In the July update for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, first-person only servers were introduced to the game. At the time, this feature was reserved for those playing in solo or duo games but now, the intense first-person experience is being rolled out to squad games too, so full four-man teams can get in on the action.

This news follows several other major Battlegrounds updates, including the addition of an FOV slider and loot crates, which are making players a ton of money on the Steam marketplace right now.

With first-person only servers now rolled out across all game modes, it will be interesting to see how this affects the player divide going forward. Personally, I think first-person only is the best way to play this game but third-person servers also have a good set of advantages that some players might not want to give up.

KitGuru Says: Battlegrounds is one of my favourite multiplayer games at the moment, especially with a full squad. I’ll be looking forward to some first-person only squad games this weekend. How many of you have tried Battlegrounds’ first-person only mode already? Do you prefer it, or will you be sticking with unrestricted servers?

The ESA claims private servers for Minecraft are ‘illegal’ in Stop Killing Games hearing

A new hearing for California’s Protect Our Games Act took place this week, and once again, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) pushed back hard against the Stop Killing Games movement. The bill aims to require publishers to provide a way for players to continue accessing games after online services are discontinued. While technically feasible in many cases, major publishers have consistently resisted the idea, preferring to shut games down entirely rather than relinquish control.
