Windrose new biome update will take ‘at least six months’

Windrose quickly became this year's breakout Steam Early Access hit over the past few months. Now, the developers are looking ahead to the next major update, which may not arrive until later in the year.

For the next patch, the Windrose development team is focused on fixing a few key issues, including:

  • Connectivity issues;
  • CPU usage on idle clients and servers;
  • Disk usage during gameplay (to reduce the load on SSD specifically);
  • Performance and stability improvements;
  • Over 40 new building pieces to fill some gaps and inconsistencies;
  • Over 50 fixes and QoL changes;

While bug fixes and smaller changes will continue to happen, the next major content update for Windrose is still some ways off. The development team says it will take “at least six months to deliver” on its plans.

In the meantime though, fans have a teaser of what to expect, with the next content update focusing on adding a new biome called Ashlands. Alongside its big content updates, the developers will also continue to work on gameplay systems, so there will be plenty to look forward to before the new biome hits.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
