Mirror’s Edge Catalyst PC requirements announced

DICE is returning to the Mirror's Edge series this year with an entirely new, open-world approach to the series. The game's closed beta is set to kick off shortly, with the full release scheduled for next month so EA has gone ahead and released the PC system requirements for those thinking about buying it.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst is based on the Frostbite 3 engine so the system requirements are in line with a few other titles published under the EA banner.

The system requirements are listed below:

Minimum:

  • OS: Windows 7 64-Bit (use the latest Service Pack)
  • CPU: Intel i3-3250 / AMD FX-6350. (Note: Mirror's Edge Catalyst requires at least 4 logical cores to run.)
  • RAM: 6 GB
  • HARD DRIVE: At least 25 GB of free space
  • VIDEO: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti 2GB or better / AMD Radeon R9 270x or better
  • INPUT: Keyboard and mouse, dual analogue controller

Recommended:

  • OS: Windows 10 64-Bit (use the latest Service Pack)
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-3770 at 3.4 GHz / AMD FX-8350 at 4.0 GHz
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • HARD DRIVE: At least 25 GB of free space
  • VIDEO: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 4GB or better / AMD Radeon R9 280x 3GB or better
  • INPUT: Keyboard and mouse, dual analogue controller

While there is a closed beta planned, we don't know yet if there will be an open beta before the game comes out on the 26th of May.

KitGuru Says: The original Mirror's Edge had me intrigued but it seems that DICE is essentially rebooting the series this time around as Catalyst apparently won't have any connection to the original. Were any of you fans of the original Mirror's Edge? Will you be trying out Catalyst when it comes out?

The ESA claims private servers for Minecraft are ‘illegal’ in Stop Killing Games hearing

A new hearing for California’s Protect Our Games Act took place this week, and once again, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) pushed back hard against the Stop Killing Games movement. The bill aims to require publishers to provide a way for players to continue accessing games after online services are discontinued. While technically feasible in many cases, major publishers have consistently resisted the idea, preferring to shut games down entirely rather than relinquish control.

  1. I thought it was a prequel with the same main character? Isn’t that a connection surely?
