The long-rumoured Sekiro anime adaptation is set to finally be announced

A little over two years ago it was reported that anime adaptations for both Ghost of Tsushima and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice were in the works. Finally, after years of silence, a Ghost of Tsushima anime was officially confirmed. Now, it seems as though the Sekiro adaptation is getting ready for an announcement.

As discovered by ResetEra user ‘vestan’, a domain has now been registered for ‘sekiro-anime.jp’ by the well-known Japanese conglomerate Kadokawa (the same company which owns a majority stake in FromSoftware).

This seems to indicate that we might finally get an official announcement more than two years after rumours first sprung up.

In case you missed it, the anime-focused leaker ‘oecuf’ claimed all the way back in May of 2023 that two anime projects based on Samurai games were in the works – ultimately going on to reveal them as being Ghost of Tsushima and Sekiro.

Both titles must have been incredibly early in development, as it wasn't until earlier this year that Sony officially announced their Ghost of Tsushima anime adaptation for 2027; lending credence to oecuf’s leak from 2023.

Given that Kadokawa is now registering domain names, it is likely that we will finally hear about the long-rumoured Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice anime soon. It will be interesting to see what approach they take with it.
