Blackberry land 1 million smartphone deal

Blackberry have received a record order of 1 million smartphones from one of their partners. The company have never had a single order this size and will certainly help their financials in 2013. Slashgear reported that the company shares increased substantially after this announcement.

The details of the partner were not published, but Business Week have said it was an established partner. Rick Costanzo, Blackberry's Executive Vice President of Global Sales said “An order for 1 million devices is a tremendous vote of confidence in BlackBerry 10. Consumers are ready for a new user experience, and BlackBerry 10 delivers. With strong partner support, coupled with this truly re-invented new platform, we have a powerful recipe for success.”

Bloomberg said they spoke with AT&T, Sprint and Verizon, but none of them offered a statement in regards to their involvement with the deal.

The announcement boosted BlackBerry shares by 8.2 percent.
