Teamgroup introduces the T-Force Cardea Z540 M.2 PCIe 5.0 SSD

The age of the PCIe 5.0 SSD has officially begun with the release of the current generation of Intel and AMD processors. As such, Teamgroup has released the T-Force Cardea Z540 M.2 PCIe 5.0 SSD, an NVMe 2.0 storage drive capable of read and write speeds of up to 12,000MB/s and 10,000MB/s, respectively.

The T-Force Cardea Z540 M.2 PCIe 5.0 SSD uses an ultra-thin graphene heat spreader that integrates various patented technologies to cool the memory modules. Comprised of 100% recyclable graphene, it uses hexagonal honeycomb lattice structures to dissipate heat. Thanks to this structure, the ultra-thin graphene heat spreader on the Z540 is less than 1mm thick and works with a variety of PCIe 5.0 motherboard heatsinks. Based on internal testing, the operating temperature of this SSD when cooled by a combination of a motherboard heatsink and the graphene heat spreader is 3-5°C lower than when using the motherboard heatsink alone.

Furthermore, the Cardea Z540 employs intelligent thermal regulation technology with built-in temperature sensors that automatically adjust performance to prevent overheating. The T-Force Lab has developed several temperature solutions for the Z540 SSD that improve and safeguard data integrity and maintain suitable operating temperatures at high speeds, resulting in an increased lifespan for the SSD.

Teamgroup's unique S.M.A.R.T. monitoring software is supported by the Z540 M.2 PCIe 5.0 SSD, allowing customers to track the SSD's health and performance. The first batch of the 2TB T-Force Cardea Z540 M.2 PCIe 5.0 SSDs will be launched in Q2 2023 globally. Teamgroup provides a 5-year warranty for the SSD.

KitGuru says: If you buy this SSD, it might be worth paying attention to its temperatures if the only cooling heatsink used is the mounted graphene heat spreader. Based on what we know, PCIe 5.0 SSDs tend to get hot without proper cooling, so it will be interesting to see end-user results.
