Asus announces world’s first monitor to run on just USB-Type C

We continue to make our way through all of the announcements coming out of the Consumer Electronics Show this week. Today, Asus unveiled the MB169C+, a portable monitor designed to run on just a single USB Type-C connection.

This is the world's first 15.6-inch portable monitor to be powered by USB Type-C for both power and video transmission from the host device. It weighs just 800g and is just 8.5mm thick, making it easy to carry around and set up.

The display itself is also fairly impressive, with a resolution of 1920×1080 and an IPS panel for better colour accuracy. The IPS display will also help with wider viewing angles.

We don't have pricing or availability information just yet, so it could be a while before it hits the market. However, we could hear more once the rush of CES dies down a bit.

KitGuru Says: Having a portable monitor running just off of a USB port is quite an achievement and could be quite good for those who travel a lot and need a secondary display for multitasking with a portable machine.
