Skype gift cards continue rollout

Despite the security hole that Microsoft was forced to patch in its VOIP software, Skype, just a few days ago, the software giant is continuing to populate retail outfits with physical gift cards, designed to get people using the service to call landlines and mobiles, as well as other Skype clients.

Currently you can find Skype cards in the US, UK and Mexico, but more countries are on the rollout for retail. However, if you're looking to purchase online, you can now do so from a total of 44 countries – and lets face it, if you're looking to buy Skype credits at all, you'd be able to do so online.

Skype Gift cards, would you buy them?

However if you're based in the UK and you really want to pick up a physical card, perhaps for a quite dull Christmas present, you could do so from Asda, Curry's PCWorld, WHSmiths and Sainsbury's.

TechCrunch has noted that one of the plus points of using a gift card, is that as well as allowing you to call other countries quite cheaply, it also removes the advertising from the software. Presumable only until the credit runs out, but it's a nice touch that makes sense.

KitGuru Says: Skype is a great PC to PC tool, but how many of you use it to call other people's phones?
