With both Nvidia and AMD having launched new-generation graphics cards this year, it is now time to take a look at the state of the market. Nvidia's RTX 50 series GPUs have been available since the end of January and as of last week, the AMD RX 9070 series GPUs are also available. Early stats indicate that AMD is currently outselling by volume.

Nvidia's handling of the recent RTX 50 series ROP issue hasn't been the best. After issuing a relatively low-key disclosure about a production error affecting a small number of GPUs, the company has seemingly left it up to consumers to identify and resolve the problem. While Nvidia claims the performance impact is limited to around 4%, independent testing has revealed a more significant performance deficit in specific scenarios.

In recent weeks, early buyers of RTX 50 series graphics cards have discovered that their GPU does not meet the advertised specification. At first, it was thought that this issue was only impacting a limited number of RTX 5090 and RTX 5070 Ti models, but this week, the first affected RTX 5080 was discovered.
