Vertagear has made excellent design improvements with the SL6000, allowing for a much easier and far less frustrating building process. However, being easy to build isn't the only hallmark of a good chair, it needs to be comfortable to sit on too. As always, this topic can be very subjective, some people like firm, hard seats, other people like lots of squishy padding, so your opinion could differ from mine.
I used the PL6000 as my main office chair for some time. I sat on it while working away on KitGuru reviews and news articles and I continued to sit on it in my downtime while playing games, so I have spent enough time with it to have a well-informed opinion.
In terms of features, this chair holds up well. The arms of the chair are not too stiff and very easy to adjust, with arm height adjustment being particularly satisfying thanks to the rail used.
As you can see in the above image, the PL6000 is a capable recliner, reaching so far back that you could lay down. You could also activate the tilt function too in order to reach back even further.
The big selling feature about Vertagear's new P-series is the increased width of the chairs. So if you find smaller gaming chairs like the SL4000 to be a little on the snug side, you may find something with a larger backrest to be more comfortable. The base frame for this chair also supports up to 200kg/440lbs of weight. Personally, I am quite short and not especially wide so I might not be the exact target audience. That said, I did enjoy my time using the PL6000 as my chair of choice. You can check all of the measurements/dimensions for the PL6000 on the first page of this review.
This chair comes with a new perforated PVC leather material, which is excellent during the hot summer days as it allows body heat to escape more efficiently. On top of that, the foam padding used in the seat itself has changed. The PL6000 comes with much tougher, firmer padding that won't wear down quickly or easily and will support more weight.
While this is good for longevity, I did find it harder to sit on for extended periods compared to the soft padded SL4000 at first. The situation did improve as the weeks went on, so perhaps this chair needed a bit of a ‘break in' period.
To wrap things up, if you spend a lot of time at your desk, whether it be for work or playing games, then you owe it to yourself to take care of your back and invest in a decent chair. The Vertagear PL6000 works best if you are quite tall and/or quite broad. However, as a smaller person, I was still able to appreciate the chair.
Obviously, a bigger chair will cost you more money. While the smaller SL4000 we reviewed last year launched with a £215 price tag, the PL6000 will set you back £329.99 on Overclockers UK. This is similar to other king-size gaming chairs on the market. If you are looking for a specific colour, then you will be happy to know that Vertagear offers red and black, blue and black, green and black, white and black or just black.
