The Synology packaging for the DS213 Air is quite vibrant in its colouring and certainly stands out. We do hope that this is also a ‘green product' as the box certainly gives that impression.
The sides of the box list a few features and specifications.
Opening up the box we found two containers one housing the accessories, which include the power cable – in two parts – and a network cable.
Synology also provide a Setup/User Guide CD as well as a useful quick installation leaflet.
The Synology DS213 Air certainly looks good in white, and we especially like the ‘Synology' logo cut into the side – this adds to the depth of the logo and certainly makes it stand out. The front of the DS213 Air has a series of LED's, for; Status, WLAN, Disk 1, Disk 2 and a Power LED.
The right-hand side of the case is similar to the left, although you may notice the right-hand side is set-back very slightly as this is where the chassis slides apart.
The back of the DS213 Air features a 92mm fan, slightly larger than you might expect. There are also the 2 x USB 3.0 ports, 1 x RJ45 port and the power port.
The bottom of the device has four rubber feet, allowing some air to circulate underneath as well as damping any vibrations from the HDDs.
