Lords of the Fallen II officially delayed to 2027 due to “highly competitive holiday period”

Lords of the Fallen is an interesting series. First released back in 2014, this souls-like from Deck 13 and CI Games was met with a lukewarm reception. Taking another stab at the formula, developer Hexworks would later release a successor – also known as Lords of the Fallen. Performing better than the first, a proper sequel was officially announced last year alongside a Fall 2026 release window. Due to a number of factors however (GTA VI), the game has now been delayed into 2027.

Taking to Twitter to share a lengthy statement, Marek Tyminski (the CEO of Lords of the Fallen publisher CI Games) offered a development update, writing: “Lords of the Fallen II is now set for a Q1 2027 release window.”

Explaining this decision, Tyminski continued, “As development progresses, we have worked closely with the Gameplay Feedback Team, a dedicated group of seasoned Souls-like veterans within our Launch Creative Team. Their valuable ongoing input, combined with the team’s vision, has identified meaningful opportunities to further refine and strengthen the overall experience. These enhancements will benefit from additional integration, iteration, and polishing time, enabling the team to deliver the highest possible quality at launch.”

Perhaps the primary reason for the delay came in the latter half of the message, in which Tyminski stated: “This updated release window also strategically positions Lords of the Fallen II outside of a highly competitive holiday period, ensuring the game receives the dedicated attention it deserves.”

Of course, the CEO is likely referencing the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI, which upon its release in November will almost certainly suck the air out of the room, leaving little space for any other game releases.

Regardless of the reason, it seems as thought this extra time will not go to waste. Here’s to hoping that Lords of the Fallen II finally marks the moment in which this franchise manages to find its legs.
