Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi series is one of the most celebrated modern iterations of this decades long franchise, with both 2019’s Fallen Order and 2023’s Survivor being highly-praised across the board (aside from technical issues at launch). Despite a 3rd entry being confirmed mere months following Jedi Survivor’s successful launch, we have heard relatively little from the project. According to one insider however, an official unveiling could arrive before the year’s end.
As reported by the Lucasfilms-focused leaker FivesWalker (who previously detailed Ubisoft’s cancelled DLC plans for Stars Wars Outlaws), the much-anticipated 3rd entry in Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi series may be launching sooner than expected.
According to the insider, Jedi 3 is currently planned to release some time next year, with its official unveiling said to be “sooner than you think” – possibly even before this year’s Game Awards in December.
As mentioned, an official announcement of the 3rd game arrived all the way back in 2023, with further details such as the fact that it will be “the final chapter” being confirmed as early as 2024; suggesting that the team have a clear vision in mind for the project.
Couple this with the fact that 2027 marks the 50th anniversary of Star Wars as a franchise and it’s safe to assume that EA / Respawn are hoping to line up its launch with this milestone moment.
With or without the leadership of director ‘Stig Asmussen’ (who left Respawn back in 2023), here’s to hoping that the team are able to round out the trilogy in a satisfying manner.
