When it comes to business, we all know Apple are ruthless and they have refused to license rights to use their Lighting connector to a startup Kickstarter funded project. This group of people wanted to build a portable charging device and had raised $139,170 from donors already. They are going to be forced to refund every person who contributed as Apple have pulled the plug.

CNET reported that POP was a simple charging station, nicknamed the ‘intersection of charging design‘ and was to feature four retractable charging cords to handle a variety of devices at the same time, including not only iOS but Android devices. It housed a whopping 26,000 mAh battery capable of charging 10 iPhones.

POP was also designed as a ‘survival' tool when power was cut, leaving users with many charges for their mobile phones and tablet computers.

The start up applied to Apple for approval to use the lightning connector but were refused. CNET have contacted Apple for a comment and may follow up later if they hear back.
