Anonymous hacker escapes jail: too young and ‘troubled’

A British teenager who was found guilty of attacking Paypal and other huge organisations as part of the Anonymous group has not been sent to jail.

The Judge said he has a troubled personality and is very young. 18 year old Jake Birchall, 16 years old at the time of the attack admitted to having taken part in a series of high profile DDoS Attacks on a range of companies between 1st August 2010 and 22 January 2011.

The Judge who ruled from Southwark Crown Court in London sentenced Birchall to an 18 month youth rehabilitation order and 60 hours of unpaid community work. He described the young man as ‘profoundly isolated' based on psychiatric details.
