XFX HD5750 XXX & eVGA GTS450 & Powercolor HD5750 LP Review

Mafia II is a gritty drama which chronicles the rise of World War II veteran Vito Scaletta, the son of Sicilian immigrants. As the game progresses, Vito will join the Falcone Crime Family and become a made man. There are 15 chapters in the game, connected into one storyline.

We tested at 1080p (1920×1080) with fullscreen: on, antialiasing:on , Anisotrophic filtering: 16x, Shadow Quality: High, Ambient Occlusion: on, Geometry Detail: High and APEX PhysX: off.

Mafia 2 is an open world environment and it is difficult to get exact repetitions within FRAPS … we did however find a run within the game which allowed us to closely measure frame rates. We repeated this run many times to narrow down any variations. We can see that the AMD boards do very well with this engine and the XFX card is slightly faster than the eVGA 450. The Powercolor LP holds onto the eVGA card, but we managed to measure a very small performance difference between it and the eVGA board – 1fps or so. All important minimum rates are the same however.
