The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are getting a price cut

Samsung just had its latest quarterly earnings report and unfortunately for the company, it wasn't as great as it had hoped as profits fell by around eight per cent. It would seem that despite strong pre-order numbers and initial sales, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge have hit a bit of a low point.

In an effort to rectify the lackluster sales figures, Samsung's latest flagship smartphones will be getting a price cut. The press release says: “While the IT & Mobile Communications (IM) Division is expected to face a difficult business environment, the sales momentum for high-end products will be maintained by adjusting the price of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge and introducing new premium smartphone models.”

Samsung is all set to launch two new premium smartphones next month on the 13th of August at an event. The company has both the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus to reveal, which will both feature high-end specifications and sell at a premium price.

Samsung's Galaxy line has been slipping for a couple of years now, which many analysts have put down to brand fatigue, although Samsung did make an effort to combat that with the Galaxy S6 re-design, along with cutting down on bloatware in TouchWiz by over 30 percent.

KitGuru Says: The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge in particular is a very nice device, so I am a little surprised to hear that it isn't selling that well. Do any of you own one of the newer Samsung Galaxy smartphones? What do you think of it?
