2024 Xbox Developer Direct reportedly happening soon

Last year, Microsoft surprised many when they hosted their Xbox Developer Direct, announcing and showing off a bunch of games – and even shadow dropping the surprisingly excellent Hi-Fi Rush. Though the console manufacturer has yet to announce a 2024 edition of the direct, a showcase is reportedly happening quite soon.

As claimed by the Xbox-focused industry insider ‘eXtas1s’ via Twitter (and translated by Google) “Xbox is setting the stage for a new Developer Direct? event, following in the footsteps of the successful start of 2023. At this upcoming event, expect fascinating presentations with news about the titles already announced, giving players a look behind the curtain. some of the most anticipated projects (Hellblade, Towerborne…etc).”

As with the previous Direct, it seems as though Microsoft will have at least one surprise up their sleeve, with ‘eXtas1s’ adding “during this event, we could witness a new ‘Shadowdrop’ or surprise release, with the game being available at the same event or even several weeks later. It may not be exactly the same as the Hifi-Rush case but we would have something VERY similar from a game with a close release date.”

As mentioned, Microsoft announced and released Hi-Fi Rush during last year’s Developer Direct. The rhythm-based action title ended up being played by over 3 million people, proving that not all games need a lengthy marketing push in order to succeed. It will be highly interesting to see what game Microsoft has planned to shadow drop at the event – and if the Direct ends up taking place in January once again.
