Samsung Exynos 2200 SoC with AMD RDNA 2 graphics benchmarked

Earlier this year, we learned that Samsung and AMD were partnering up on a new Exynos SoC featuring RDNA 2 graphics cores. Now, the first benchmark result for the Samsung Exynos 2200 has appeared online, but while the results are decent, we're still months away from the planned Q1 2022 launch, so there may well be improvements or changes made before then.

The Geekbench 5 entry spotted by @Benchleaks shows both the single and multi-core scores of the Samsung SM-S906B. This SoC is believed to be the Exynos 2200 because the entry shows it's using an AMD GPU driver.

The 4nm-based Exynos 2200 will feature eight cores across three clusters. The first cluster has 4x cores clocked at 1.73GHz, the second has 3x cores at 2.5GHz, and the third cluster has one core clocked at 2.59GHz. AMD RDNA 2 GPU specifications were not detailed in the entry.

In the single-core test, the SM-S906B/Exynos 2200 scored 1073 points. As for the multi-core test, it scored 3389 points. Comparing these scores to those of the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G equipped with an Exynos 2100, they're about 10-15% higher, but we should see the performance gap widen once Samsung gives those clock speeds a boost.

KitGuru says: It's still early days but this Exynos chip is showing promise. It will be interesting to see gaming performance across demanding mobile games like Genshin Impact, PUBG, Call of Duty Mobile and others in the run up to launch.
