Corsair this week reduced pricing of its last year’s Force LX family of solid-state drives. The new prices make the SSDs considerably more affordable, which is a good news for those, who want to get a high-performance SSD at a relatively low price.

The Corsair LX series of solid-state drives are available in 128GB and 256GB capacities and are based on the Silicon Motion SM2246EN controller as well as multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash memory with toggle DDR interface. The drives provide file transfer speeds of up to 560MB/s read and 300MB/s write (up to 150MB/s in case of the 128GB version), which is nearly in-line with high-end SSDs. The Force LX family fully supports such technologies as TRIM, NCQ and S.M.A.R.T. that maintain SSD's performance over long periods of use. The Force LX SSDs use Serial ATA-6Gb/s interface and are compatible with the vast majority of modern PCs.

From now on, the Force LX 256GB will cost $129.99 (£77, €95.4) and the 128GB version will be priced at only $74.99 (£44, €55) in the U.S. Prices in the UK and Europe will likely be generally higher, but the price-cut will naturally affect them as well eventually.

The Corsair LX family of solid-state drives comes with three-year warranty.

KitGuru Says: Typically prices of solid-state drives are cut ahead of introduction of a new generation of SSDs as well as because of dropping costs of MLC NAND flash memory. Both factors probably played a role in case of the Force LX’s price-cut, but keeping in mind that at the Computex 2014 many all-new SSD models will be announced (including those for budget-minded users), it makes sense to wait a little bit with the purchase.
