Blizzard details first Overwatch 2 beta patch

The Overwatch 2 beta has been online for just over a week now, and Blizzard already has plenty of feedback to take into account. As we head into week two of the beta, Blizzard has revealed some of the changes it is planning to make.

This is the first in a series of weekly updates that will be taking place over the course of the beta, all in an effort to increase communication from Blizzard to players. The developers have already received plenty of feedback on hero balance for the new 5v5 gameplay, and the first patch to address this will be coming this week.

“This Beta and future tests will be critically important for identifying balance issues and adjusting. So far, most heroes are falling into a healthy range overall for play rate and win rate across different skill levels, but we’ve seen a few outliers that we’ll address in a balance patch planned for later this week”, Blizzard said.

Currently in Overwatch 2, there is an outcry from players over the balance of support characters, which are having a harder time in games now that there is one less tank for protection. According to Blizzard though, support heroes are “performing well” in the beta. With that in mind, no significant buffs or tweaks have been announced for current heroes. Instead, Blizzard plans to tackle the issue by adding “exciting new support heroes to the game”. Blizzard may also consider refreshed abilities for certain existing support heroes if needed.

Overwatch 2 is in beta this year, but it won't be releasing until next year. If you want to see what we thought of the game during week one, you can check out this week's KitGuru Games, HERE.
