EA and Koei Tecmo teaming up to create a Monster Hunter rival

Ahead of the Tokyo Games Show, EA has announced a surprising new partnership. EA is teaming up with Japan's Koei Tecmo and Omega Force to create a brand new fantasy IP, aiming to take on Capcom's Monster Hunter series.

Omega Force is primarily known for the Warriors series of games, including the likes of Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors and spin-off titles like Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors. This new IP will be published under the EA Originals label, similarly to titles like It Takes Two and Knockout City.

Speaking on the new partnership, Koei Tecmo VP, Yosuke Hayashi, said: “The EA team fully embraces our creative independence and have become invaluable partners offering both development and publishing support. Adding the global resources of EA with our own will help us introduce a new kind of hunting game to a global audience of players and expand our reach into global markets.”

According to EA's Jeff Gamon, the developers have “elevated the hunting genre to the next level”. For now, we aren't actually being shown the game, but EA promises to reveal it later this month, likely at TGS.
