Obsidian set to announce its next game at The Game Awards

Geoff Keighley's annual Game Awards ceremony is coming up fast. We already know to expect a handful of game reveals, one of which could be a new Alien game. Now, we also know that Obsidian will also be appearing at the show with an announcement.

Obsidian Entertainment has had a brand new game in the works for a while, long before the recent acquisition by Microsoft. In order to tease fans, Obsidian updated its website last night with a countdown timer to The Game Awards, asking fans to “stay tuned for a special message from Auntie Cleo's”. A second teaser image shows off an odd selection of ‘Auntie Cleo's' branded products, including bread, perfume and skin crème, alongside the message ‘better than nature'.

Obviously, we have no idea what any of this means. However, it is all likely tied to the game Obsidian has been working on for Take-Two's Private Division, which was set up to invest in independent studios. The game is rumoured to be called ‘The Outer World' and is being headed up by Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarski, who both worked on the original two Fallout games.

Given that Obsidian has since been acquired by Microsoft, we don't know if this game will end up being an Xbox/PC exclusive, or if it will still be published by Take-Two as a multiplatform title. Either way, we should hear more next week, as The Game Awards kick off on the 6th of December.

KitGuru Says: Obsidian has made some of my favourite RPGs, so I'm very excited to see this new game in action. Are any of you planning to tune in to The Game Awards next week?
