Following on from the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase a few days ago, Bethesda has been sharing some more details about Starfield. We've already learned that the game will feature a silent protagonist, and now Todd Howard has claimed that the campaign will take around 30 to 40 hours to complete. 

Speaking with IGN this week, Starfield director, Todd Howard, talked a little bit about Starfield's length, saying it will be a little bit longer than previous titles, like Skyrim and Fallout 4: “This one’s ending up a little bit longer and we may tune that some still, It’s more quests, so it might be 20% more than our previous ones”, Howard said.

He added that the main story should be around 30 to 40 hours long, but that would involve ignoring a large chunk of side content. That side content will of course include spending time exploring the many planets in the game, building outposts and additional quests.

Howard also confirmed that while there are a lot of hand crafted areas in the game, many of the game's 1000 planets will be procedurally generated and a chunk of them will just be there for immersion purposes with little on them. However, the planets at the heart of the story apparently have more handcrafted content on them than any previous Bethesda game.

Starfield is currently scheduled to release in the first half of 2023 for Xbox Series X/S and PC. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass on day-one.

KitGuru Says: I've seen a lot of complaints about Starfield floating around, but so far, I'm really looking forward to the game. The gameplay showcase was a little choppy at points, but I thought everything looked great and there is so much good potential for mods, future expansions etc.
