EA is considering adding subscriptions to Apex Legends

While it remains one of the more popular live-service battle royale experiences, Apex Legends has not been without its own set of controversies. Following in the footsteps of Fortnite, it seems as though EA are toying with the idea of introducing a subscription service to Apex Legends.

As reported by Insider-Gaming, a selection of Apex Legends players were sent a survey by EA, asking them whether they would have any interest in a ‘monthly subscription’ service for the game.

According to the survey, such a subscription would include “monthly in-game currency amount, monthly rewards, and Battle Pass tiers” – not too dissimilar to the likes of Epic Games’ Fortnite Crew service.

As mentioned, Apex Legends has had a few slip-ups in recent months, with the most recent being the backlash toward their plans for a revamp of the game’s battle pass system – making it harder to earn future passes. This was quickly reverted following a slew of backlash.

Given the fact that this is just a survey, it’s possible that nothing might come of it. That said, it’ll be interesting to see what the publisher chooses to do with the results – which will hopefully indicate a strong disinterest in such a feature. We will have to wait and see.
