Concord’s director steps down from role

By now, many are familiar with the overwhelming failure of PlayStation Studios’ Concord, with the live-service hero shooter from Firewalk Studios selling an estimated 25,000 copies and being shut down in under two weeks. While the state of the studio itself remains up in the air, Concord’s game director has decided to step down.

In a lengthy report published by Kotaku going into the past, present and future of Firewalk Studios, it was revealed that Ryan Ellis – the director for Concord – “told staff at Firewalk last week that he would be stepping down from his game director role and move into a support role instead.”

In discussing the studio’s current position within PlayStation Studios, sources who spoke to Kotaku were not optimistic, believing Concord may never resurface in a new form – however much of it remains speculative for now.

The full report is lengthy and goes into much greater detail on the feelings inside Firewalk Studios, but regardless, it’s quite clear that Concord’s unprecedented failure for PlayStation is going to impact the team further at some point or another.
