FF7 Revelation adds auto‑level option for players who want to skip grinding

Square Enix has been steadily revealing new details about Final Fantasy VII Revelation through a string of interviews at TGS this week. Director Naoki Hamaguchi has already discussed the game’s huge 200GB install size, its expanded open world and the return of airship travel. Now, in a new interview with IGN Japan, he has outlined one of the major new assist features being added to the game, allowing players to skip the grind and auto-level for new story content.

While many fans loved Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, not everyone wanted to grind through side content, and those who stuck to the main story often found themselves under‑leveled. Revelation is set to be even larger than Rebirth, but Hamaguchi says the team is introducing an option to automatically raise your party to the recommended level at a certain point in the game, allowing players to skip grinding entirely and focus on the main campaign.

The feature was highlighted by Genki, who translated the relevant portion of the interview. According to Hamaguchi, the team received a lot of feedback from Rebirth players who wanted a more linear, story‑driven experience similar to FF7 Remake, without being forced into open‑world exploration or side quests. Revelation will therefore include a prompt asking whether you want to automatically raise your characters to the recommended level for the next story section.

Players who want to explore the open world and level naturally can ignore the option, while those who prefer to focus purely on the narrative can use it to keep pace without engaging in optional content.

KitGuru says: I was definitely taken aback by how much more side content and exploration there was in Rebirth compared to Remake. This is the sort of feature that I'll be getting some use out of as someone who primarily just wants to play through the main questline.
