Undefeated: Genesis gets free demo on Steam ahead of 2027 release

Undefeated has one of the more unusual success stories in recent years. Originally created by just three students, the prototype went viral thanks to its take on Superman‑style gameplay, eventually releasing as a free game on Steam. Now the team is returning with Undefeated: Genesis, a full premium reimagining of the concept, currently targeting a 2027 launch.

A new demo was announced during the PC Gaming Show at TGS this week, giving players an early look at how far the project has come. The headliner change is the shift to a more anime‑inspired art style, paired with a much broader range of environments that blend sci‑fi and fantasy elements. The game now takes place on the alien world of Voltissia, which gives the developers room to build stranger enemies, larger bosses and more dramatic set‑pieces than the original city‑based prototype.

In Undefeated: Genesis, players take on the role of Albert Hartree, who is suddenly transported to Voltissia and awakens with extraordinary powers. Stranded far from home, he joins survivors of a civilization destroyed centuries ago and begins to learn what it means to become a hero rather than simply wield overwhelming strength.

Flight remains central to the experience. You can soar freely across Voltissia’s shattered landscapes, cover huge distances at speed, and launch into combat with momentum‑based attacks. As you progress, you unlock new abilities built around movement, impact and traversal, gradually expanding your options for exploration and battle. The world itself is filled with towering ruins, mutated creatures and remnants of the disaster known as the Calamity, setting up a mix of exploration, large‑scale combat encounters and story‑driven missions.
