PlayStation trademarks new game titled ‘Break In’

We already know that Insomniac's Wolverine game will be a big point of focus for Sony's State of Play showcase next week but now, we know of at least one other first-party game due to make an appearance. Sony has just trademarked a mysterious game called ‘Break In'.

As spotted by Insider Gaming, Sony filed the trademark for Break In on the 20th of May, timed conveniently just ahead of the next State of Play showcase. The trademark filing doesn't give us any further details but there is a good chance that this isn't actually a new game at all, but a rebranding of a previously announced one.

There is a good chance that Break In is a rebrand of Sony's previously revealed live-service game, Fairgame$. The original reveal for this title did not go down well and for months we've been hearing about poor feedback from ongoing playtests. With that in mind, a total rebrand of the project before launch could help reset its PR and give it a better chance at success.

Break In is a title that would fit what Fairgame$ is supposed to be – a co-op heist game. If the game is due to make another public appearance, then chances are it is on track to launch later this year.

KitGuru Says: Break In could be something entirely new, but considering the name, it seems like a perfect fit for a rebrand of Fairgame$.
