‘Rayman Legends Retold’ Remake officially announced and dated

For years now we’ve been hearing that Ubisoft has been trying to bring back the Rayman series, with the last entry – Legends – releasing all the way back in 2013. In an interesting announcement, the publisher officially unveiled a brand new yet-familiar title, with Rayman Legends Retold launching this October.

Announced during Sony’s recent State of Play showcase, Rayman Legends Retold is a remake of their most recent entry – 2013’s Legends. That said, the game in many ways looks entirely different when compared to the original, featuring new cinematic cutscenes with dialogue, direction and even a talking Rayman.

Gameplay-wise, the remake introduces new perspectives, embracing the 2.5D aesthetic and including 3D visuals, “breaking up the 2D perception by bending the playground, tilting the camera, and dynamizing in-game cutscenes, improving player immersion.”

Of course, Rayman Legends is all about the music, and so Retold has been re-tooled with an expanded soundtrack by Christophe Héral and Grant Kirkhope.

Though it may seem odd that their most recent game is the first one to be remade, the changes shown off do indicate that a great deal of work and effort has gone into Rayman Legends Retold. Hopefully this serves as a jumping-off point for future original releases.

KitGuru says: What did you think of the announcement? Did they do enough to justify the remake’s existence? Would you like to see a fully-3D Rayman again? Let us know down below.
