Eric Schmidt predicts tech trends in 2014

There are a few people around the world that while not necessarily developing the latest and greatest technology themselves, have been around the block long enough that when they start throwing out predictions about the future, chances are a few of them are going to stick. One such person is Eric Schmidt, who spoke with Bloomberg yesterday to reveal his top picks for tech trends in 2014.

So what does Mr Schimdt think is going down? Watch the video to find out: [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzKM8oyCsUg']

If you can't or won't (either) then here's a quick list of some of them:

  • New generations of apps focused on entertainment and education
  • Introduction and application of big-data, finding people, ranking people and assessing people on how they use products and making that information available everywhere
  • Personal genetic records and gene sequencing could bring new treatments for cancer and other life threatening conditions
  • Google's plans moving forward are heavy investment in multiple industries

Schmidt also takes a second to regret not catching the social networking wave when it first started rolling ashore. He of course is now grabbing hold of it with both Google + hands, but ultimately blames himself for not getting the company on board sooner.
