AOC has been fleshing out its new AGON series of gaming monitors all year long. Just last month, a brand new Ultra-Wide monitor was added to the lineup, which traded in resolution for a higher 200Hz refresh rate. This month things are a little different, with the AGON AG251FZ bringing things back down to standard 1080p, but pushing the boundaries further with a 240Hz refresh rate, the fastest yet.
Right now, there are only a handful of monitors around that can hit 240Hz, so this is quite an achievement. As for the other specs, this is a 1920×1080 25-inch display with AMD's FreeSync technology, which will allow your GPU to control your monitor's refresh rate. It also has a 1ms Grey-to-Grey response time, making it ultra-responsive for gaming.
Here are the full specifications:
- Model: AG251FZ
- Display: 25″ TN at 240 Hz
- Resolution: 1920×1080
- Sync technology: Adaptive Sync/FreeSync
- Signal input: 1x VGA, 1x DVI, 1x HDMI 2.0, 1x DisplayPort 1.2, 4 x USB 3.0
- Audio out/in
- Microphone in/out
- Height-adjustable ergonomic stand
- Built in Speakers
- 1 ms GtG response time
The stand features height adjustment and tilt. The screen itself features flicker-free technology and a low blue light mode, which can reduce any strain on the eyes should you need it. You won't be able to get your hands on this monitor for a while though, with a release date scheduled for January 2017. Perhaps we will see it on display at CES. Either way, when it does arrive it will apparently cost £449.

KitGuru Says: As much as I like to see these new higher refresh rates on monitors, I don't think I could personally stomach spending almost £500 on a 1080p monitor these days. Especially after seeing some 144Hz/1440p monitors dipping below the £500 mark in the last 18 months. Still though, if you demand the highest refresh rates and don't mind sticking to 1080p, then this might be right up your alley.
