Discord rolls out video chat and screen sharing for all users

Over the last year or so, Discord has boomed in popularity, with many PC gamers making the jump to it, leaving Skype behind. While Discord’s call quality has been a big improvement over Skype, it did lack a few other features, namely video chat and screen sharing. Fortunately, after a couple months of testing, Discord is officially rolling out video chat and screen sharing to all users starting today.

Making the announcement over on the Discord blog, the company wrote: “We now have video chat and screen share so you can share your face or screen pixels with another person’s eye pixels”. With video chat, you can have up to 10 people sharing their webcam feed at once in a group DM. You also have the option to share your screen instead of your face if you prefer.

There is support for picture in picture mode so you can video chat while browsing other servers or text chatting in other DMs. Aside from that, the most recent Discord update also fixes a few bugs, you can see the full patch notes at the blog post.
