Fallout 76 Expeditions could send players back to Fallout 3’s Washington D.C.

While rumours of a Fallout 3 remaster never amounted to anything, we may be returning to Bethesda's post-apocalyptic version of Washington D.C. in a different form soon. Dataminers have been chipping away at recent updates to Fallout 76, discovering a new Expedition map.

Fallout 76 Expeditions are an upcoming mission type that will send players off on missions outside of West Virginia. With that in mind, Bethesda is building new maps for these areas, one of which has been datamined by Reddit user cyberRakan. Images of the map were shared via an Imgur link, revealing a work in progress area that seems to strongly resemble the Dupont Circle area from Fallout 3.

Speaking with PCGamer, the dataminer confirmed that the map was accessed using unofficial Fallout 76 servers, which can be used to load in content not yet visible in the main game on official servers. Still there is the chance that this is an old prototype map for feature testing, rather than something intended for release.

Fallout 76 Expeditions have been on Bethesda's roadmap for a while now but due to COVID-19, there have been delays. At this point, we aren't expecting to see Expeditions arrive in the game until 2022.

KitGuru Says: Using Expeditions as a nod to previous Fallout titles sounds like a smart move. I'm sure there are many fans that would like to revisit Washington, New Vegas or even Fallout 4's version of Boston, just as long as we get a healthy mix of new locations too.

SplitGate team reportedly developing a Titanfall successor

1047 Games found a ton of success back in 2019 when they released SplitGate: a fun and fast-paced arena shooter in the vein of classic Halo, while adding a twist in the form of portals which players could place around the map for strategic plays. While its sequel has failed to make the same level of splash, the team are apparently working on a brand new game – this one being inspired by Titanfall.
