SkateBIRD delayed by a month

SkateBIRD is one of the more unique looking indie games shown off over the past few years. First announced all the way back in 2018, the game has continually been pushed back. Just a few weeks away from release, the game has been pushed back one more time.

Making the announcement on Twitter, the official SkateBIRD account released a tongue-in-cheek video where they revealed that the game would no longer make its intended release date of 12th of August, and would instead launch just over a month later: the 16th of September.

As mentioned, StakeBIRD was first announced in November 2018 with a release window of late 2020. In July of that year however, it was pushed back to 2021, citing plans to add a story mode to the game as being the reason behind it. The previous release date of 12th of August was announced in June, so it seems this latest delay is for some last-minute bug squashing and refinements.

It seems as though a different game is delayed every single week, begging the question as to whether release dates being announced so far in advance is doing more harm than good for these games and their expectations. It will be interesting to see whether developers start to withhold release dates until they are sure they can hit them.
