Helldivers 2 increases CCU capacity to 800,000

Helldivers II has been suffering from success, with the game’s overwhelming and unexpected popularity leading to extended waiting times for eager fans of the game. Fortunately, the team have now managed to increase the game’s server capacity – allowing for up to 800,000 concurrent players.

Over the course of the weekend, the team at Arrowhead Studios updated its maximum server capacity multiple times – first to 700,000 and then 800,000, with the studio’s CEO taking to Twitter to say:

“We expect the @helldivers2 servers to hit the 800,000 CCU max capacity in 3-4 hours. There might be light queues to get in at peak. Also, how crazy is this message from a studio of ~100 devs?”

Previously, the server was capped at around 400,000 players, with many excited fans unable to get into any games as a result. Doubling this maximum capacity should be more than enough of an increase for now.

That said, with how quickly the game seems to be growing (still sitting at the top of the Steam best-sellers list), it’ll be interesting to see just how long it’ll be till servers are once again at capacity.
