Panasonic to release Lumix 3D1 3D handheld @ £420

Panasonic have just released a new 3D compact camera which is called the DMC-3D1. It has two ultra wide angle lenses, each with 4 times zoom. The camera is using two 12 megapixel CMOS sensors which can record 8 MP 3D images, or 9 MP 2D images. It can also record 1080/60i HD 3D movies.

The camera is targeting the mainstream audience with many automated capabilities to make it all a straight point and click experience. Well that is until you hear the cost – $500, and the price is expected to be around £420 inc vat when it hits the UK shores in the coming months. This means it will only target those people with a lot of disposable income, not those people wandering into Dixons at the weekend.

Full specifications are now listed on the Panasonic website over here. 3D cameras have yet to capture the interest of Joe Public, and until they drop in price it looks to be still a gadget for those with deeper pockets.
