Philips unveils Evnia 27M2G5800 monitor with 5K/180Hz and QHD/330Hz modes

Philips has introduced the Evnia 27M2G5800, a 27-inch gaming monitor featuring a dual-mode Fast IPS panel. The display allows users to switch between a native 5K resolution for high-fidelity tasks and a high-refresh QHD mode for competitive gaming. 

According to ITHome, the Evnia 27M2G5800 has a native resolution of 5120×2880, with a pixel density of 217 PPI. In 5K mode, the monitor supports a native 165Hz refresh rate, which can be overclocked to 180Hz. Alternatively, the display can be toggled to a 2560×1440 QHD mode to unlock refresh rates up to 330Hz.

Philips rates the display at a peak brightness of 500 nits and a 1000:1 contrast ratio. It features VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification and supports adaptive sync, including official G-Sync compatibility. Also, the brand claims a 1ms GtG response time, a 10-bit colour depth, and a wide colour gamut coverage (Adobe RGB: 95%, DCI-P3: 98%, sRGB: 137%).

Connectivity is handled by two HDMI 2.1 ports and a single DisplayPort 2.1. The latter is required to utilise the 5K resolution at its 180Hz overclocked limit. The monitor also features a USB hub with one USB-B upstream port and two USB-A downstream ports, along with a 3.5mm headphone jack. Integrated software features include Shadow Boost, Smart Crosshair, and Smart MBR. It is currently listed at 4999 yuan (£544).

KitGuru says: Although the converted price makes this monitor quite enticing, if it ever comes to the West, it won't likely come as cheaply. Still, the Evnia 27M2G5800 looks like a very versatile monitor for anything you throw at it.
