Greedfall studio Spiders is reportedly being shut down following insolvency

2026 has been a bad year for Nacon, with the French video games publisher confirming last month that a number of its subsidiaries had filed for insolvency. While reports at the time claimed that they were hoping to sell off one of their studios (Spiders), it seems the team did not manage to secure a deal – with the nearly two-decade old studio reportedly set to shutter.

As reported by the publication Origami.ng (who have previously shared tons of details regarding the publisher's current status), Nacon subsidiary Spiders is set to be shut down “soon” following their inability to find “a buyer.”

For the uninitiated, Spiders is one of Nacon’s most well known studios, with the AA team having released a number of ambitious titles in its time, including-but-not-limited-to Greedfall; Steelrising; The Technomancer and more.

The announcement of the studio’s closure is interesting to see, especially as the team only just recently released Greedfall: The Dying World. Initially launched in Early Access to a mixed reception, the game’s full arrival has been met with far more positivity.

Unfortunately, it seems as though Greedfall: The Dying World will mark the final game from Spiders. Hopefully some positives can come from this disappointing situation.

KitGuru Games: Starfield is Bethesda’s Most Improved Game*

Compared to both Skyrim and Fallout 4, Starfield is different. In not being tied to any legacy franchises or known IPs, not only was the space-exploration RPG working with a lower potential sales floor, but Bethesda Game Studios also needed to make the world of Starfield one which players were interested in beyond its gameplay mechanics. This didn’t quite pan out, and so for the first time in decades Bethesda did what fans had been asking – they made the game better. Starfield is Bethesda Game Studios’ most improved title.
