Subnautica 2 is finally launching this month following conclusion of legal battles

What initially started as a relatively low-key sequel to an excellent indie game, the development of Subnautica 2 wound up being far more complicated, with issues between developer Unknown Worlds Entertainment and original publisher Krafton leading to a plethora of legal battles. With all of it seemingly finally resolved however, the team at Unknown Worlds have officially confirmed the release date for Subnautica 2.

Making the official announcement, the team at Unknown Worlds Entertainment confirmed that the long-awaited Subnautica 2 is finally set to launch in Early Access later this month – arriving on the 14th of May (at 4PM UK time to be specific).

Alongside its release date, the team also offered an official price for the product, revealing that it will cost $29.99 and will cover “all additions, updates, and hotfixes up to our 1.0 launch and beyond.”

Outside of its price and release date, the team also gave a rough estimate for how long the game will remain in Early Access, claiming that it could “take about 2 to 3 years” – though of course such timelines are always subject to change.

Regardless, with all of the various legal issues now behind them, Unknown Worlds are finally gearing up to release their long-awaited and much-anticipated Subnautica 2.
