Ex-Forza devs will officially show off their AAA racing game next week

Back in early 2023, the creative director for the Forza franchise – Mike Brown – announced that they had left Playground Games to pursue their own endeavours; unveiling the brand new AAA studio Maverick Games. Given their lineage, it was clear that the team would be working on a racing title of sorts. Sure enough, in anticipation of June’s Summer Game Fest season, the team have started to tease their debut project – with a timer counting down to its official announcement.

Taking to their official YouTube page, the team at Maverick Games have started up a livestream featuring a relatively static video of a 2003 FIAT Multipla alongside a countdown timer leading to the 2nd of June at 11am BST – presumably when the game will actually be revealed.

Based on the imagery shared, fans believe that the game could be set in the French Riviera. Additionally, the inclusion of a street vehicle featuring a purple underglow suggests that this project could be leaning more into the Need For Speed / Forza Horizon side of things as opposed to a more traditional track-based racer.

Either way, we won’t have to wait long to find out, with the official reveal seemingly going live in less than a week’s time. All that said, it will be interesting to see how fans react to this upcoming title – especially given that Forza Horizon 6 recently launched to massive player numbers.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the teaser released? What are your hopes for this new IP? What type of racing game would you want it to lean into? Let us know down below.
