Attack on Titan 3 announced alongside July release date

Taking a bit of a break from their musou-styled games, Koei Tecmo and Omega Force released Attack on Titan back in 2016, an adaptation of the popular manga/anime series which saw players take on massive titans through the use of fun and fast-paced ODM gear – giving you spider-man-esque movement abilities. After releasing a sequel a few years later, the series went silent. Fortunately, with the Attack on Titan anime now complete, Omega Force have returned with their “ultimate” AoT experience, officially announcing Attack on Titan 3.

Officially unveiled during the Summer Game Fest showcase, Attack on Titan 3 is described as “the ultimate culmination of the Attack on Titan game series” letting fans experience “the story from beginning to end” in video game form.

For the uninitiated, AoT: Wings of Freedom covered the earlier portions of the anime’s story while having players take on the role of various main/side characters. AoT 2 meanwhile retold the story once again from the beginning, but from the perspective of a custom player-made character while going further into Season 3’s events.

By far the best part of this series however came with its gameplay, offering a bit of a power fantasy as players zipped through different regions using the aforementioned ODM gear. In this regard, Attack on Titan 3 looks to be taking things to the next level, promising that “The ODM action has been further refined, delivering the most exhilarating and stylish combat the series has ever seen.”

Attack on Titan 3 has clearly been in development for quite some time, with the team confirming that this 3rd and seemingly final entry will arrive in under a month’s time on the 1st of July – coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Steam and Nintendo Switch 2.

KitGuru says: Are you a fan of Attack on Titan? Have you played either of the previous two games? What refinements would you like to see made to gameplay? Let us know down below.
